The easiest recipe for idli dosa batter on the internet, with only two ingredients. You cam make softest idlis and crispiest dosas with this.

1 cup urad dal
3 cups rice
Wash urad dal for 2-3 times, soak and cover, keep aside for 4-5 hours.

Wash rice for 2-3 times, soak and cover, keep aside for 4-5 minutes.

After 5 hours, sieve dal and preserve soaked dal water for later use.

Transfer soaked dal in a mixer jar. Add preserved dal water and prepare a thick and creamy paste.

Transfer dal paste in a big vessel. Now sieve soaked rice in the same mixer jar. Add soaked dal water and prepare a thick creamy rice paste. Prepare rice paste in two batches. Transfer rice paste in dal paste. Now mix dal and rice paste with hands for 5 minutes. Cover and keep in a warm place for 6-8 hours.

After 8 hours, mix the mixture with a spoon. Add salt in mixture and fill the idli plates with idli batter. Steam for 15 minutes on medium to high flame. Remove idli plates from the steamer and let it cool for 2-3 minutes. Demould the idli and our soft and spongy idlis are ready.

For dosa, mix water and prepare a ribbon flowing consistency batter.

Heat a non stick tawa on low flame. Grease with oil, wipe excess oil with a kitchen paper.

Pour a big spoonful dosa batter in the middle of the tawa, spread the batter in outward motion.

Increase heat and cook dosa till brown marks, brush with oil. Remove from tawa and our perfect crispy dosa is ready.

Enjoy homemade perfect idli dosa with sambhar and chutney.
