We eat first with our eyes is certainly true because when a dish is visually appealing then our eyes sends signaling to our brain that it is delicious too.Today we at Food Connections is presenting a basic video about how to prepare dry fruit slices at home. These dry fruit slices are used to decorate the homemade sweets to make them visually appealing.

Almonds (badaam)
Cashews (kaju)
Pistachios (pista)
Cardamom (ilaichi)
Dry coconut (khopra)
We are preparing dry fruits slices at home with easy steps. Prepare cardamom powder and coconut flakes and coconut slice.

Soak whole cashews, pistachio and almonds in water and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile we are making coconut slices and flakes from the potato slicer and grater.

Cut dry coconut (khopra) with knife in two parts. Prepare thin coconut slices with the help of potato slicer. For dry coconut flakes grate coconut on a greater. For white coconut flakes peel the brown part from the dry coconut from knife and grate.

After 10 minutes, remove all the water from soaked dry fruits. Spread soaked dry fruits on a kitchen napkin for 5 minutes. Remove skin from soaked pistachio so that we can prepare green pistachio flakes or slices.

This is a dry fruit slicer, easily available at utensils store or online. For pistachio flakes, fill the cavity with soaked and peeled pistachio and slice them as shown in the video. Or you can prepare pistachio slices with potato slicer too. Spread and dry them under the fan for 2-3 hours or can microwave for 30 seconds.

For almond slices fill the cavity with soaked almonds and slice them. Or you can prepare almond slices with the potato slicer too. After slicing, spread them and allow to dry under the fan for 2-3 hours or can microwave for 30 seconds. If you want small almond slices, slice them vertically.

For cashew slices, fill the cavity of slicer and slice them as shown in the video or can use potato slicer too. Spread cashew slices and dry under the fan for 2-3 hours or microwave for 30 seconds.

For cardamom powder, add 2tbsp green cardamom and 1 tbsp sugar in a mixer jar and prepare a fine powder. Cardamom powder is ready. Store in an airtight box.

We prepared all dry fruit slices in very simple way. Dry them and store in fridge for long time.
