1 cup sama ke chawal/ bhagar/ mordhan/ samak/ vrat wale chawal 2 tbsp curd 1 tsp rock salt 1/2 tsp baking soda
This is mordhan/ sama/ bhagar or vrat wale chawal. I have soaked them in water for 1 hour. Add in a mixer jar and grind to fine and thick paste. Transfer in a bowl. Add salt, curd and mix nicely. Cover and keep aside for 1 hour. After 1 hour the batter is fermented nicely. Mix the batter. Add baking soda and mix. Grease idli mould with oil, fill the idli mould with batter. Steam for 10 minutes on high flame and 5 minutes on low flame. Switch off the flame and take out the plates from idli mould, allow them to cool for 3-4 minutes. Demould and see the texture of idli....super soft and yummy.... Enjoy healthy idli with coconut chutney.
