1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup water 1.5 cup milk powder 2 tsp ghee 2 tsp cocoa powder Chandi varakh (optional)
Add 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar in a wok. Melt the sugar and prepare one thread sugar syrup. Add 1 cup milk powder and mix on low flame. Add remaining 1/2 cup milk powder and mix. Flame should be low in the whole process. Add 1 tsp ghee and mix. Cook the mixture till everything comes together. Switch off the flame. Divide into two equal parts. Line a 5inch square mould with butter paper or parchment paper. Set half quantity of prepared mixture in mould and spread evenly. Keep aside. Mix cocoa powder and water in a bowl. Again, place the same wok on the stove. Switch on the flame. Mix cocoa powder mixture. Cook till all mixture comes together. Switch off the flame and mix for 1 minute and allow to cool for 1 minute. Pour chocolate milk powder mixture in the same square mould and spread evenly. Keep aside for 2 hours or set in fridge for 30 minutes. After 2 hours the milk powder barfi is set perfectly. Apply silver edible foil (chandi varak) on barfi. Cut with a sharp knife in small square pieces. Perfect double decker milk powder barfi is ready to serve.
