Moong dal idli is very soft, spongy and tasty. This is made with healthy whole moong. For making moong idli we have not used baking soda and fruit salt. This idli is perfect for weight loss and health consicious person. Do try this healthy, steamed idli recipe and stay fit.

1 Cup Rice
1/2 cup whole moong
1/2 cup urad dal
1 green chilli
1 inch ginger
1/4 cup fresh coriander
1 tsp salt
Take 1/2 cup whole moong, 1/2 cup urad dal, 1 cup rice.

Wash all the lentils and rice with water and soak them for 5-6 hours.

After 6-7 hours, drain out the excess water. Use drained water for grinding, it will help in fast fermentation.

Add moong in a mixer jar and make a fine paste, if needed add water.

Transfer moong paste in a vessel.

In the same jar add urad dal, green chilli, fresh coriander, ginger and prepare a thick paste. Add water if needed.

Mix urad dal paste in moong paste.

Grind soaked rice too. Mix with moong, urad dal paste. Mix nicely and beat for 2-3 minutes.

Cover and keep on warm place for 5-6 hours for fermentation.

After 6 hours idli batter is fermented nicely. Add salt and mix.

The idli batter is light and fluffy.

Grease idli plates with oil.

Fill the idli cavity with fermented idli batter.

Place idli plates in a steamer and steam for 10 minutes on high flame and 5 minutes on low.

Open the steamer and check the idlis.

Take out idli plates from steamer and allow to cool for 2 minutes.

Demould the idlis.

Super-soft and healthy idlis are ready to serve.
