We all love to eat dessert and then mouth freshener after having delicious food. There are lot of varieties of sweets ( desserts) and mouth freshener available in India. How wonderful it would be if one can have a mix of both dessert and mouth freshener in one dish. Today we are going to show a simple and unique recipe of betel and ash gourd, which is refreshing dessert as well as mouth freshener. 1kg ash gourd 150g sugar A Pinch of food colour For stuffing - 1/2 Cup milk powder 1/4 cup milk 1 Tsp clarified butter 1 Tbsp chopped mix dry fruits 1 Tbsp Gulkand (rose petal jam) 1 Tbsp dry paan masala (Dry betel mix)
Take ash gourd which is easily available with vegetable vendor. Remove the seeds. Peel it. Cut in big pieces. Cut in thin slices as shown in the video. Add edible lime stone in water. Soak for 3-4 hours. Wash 3-4 times with water. Boil for 3-4 minutes on high flame. Add 150g sugar and green food colour in 200ml water. Boil for 5-6 minutes. These are transparent now. Switch off the flame. For instant mava add 1/4 cup milk, 1 tsp clarified butter and 1/2 cup milk powder in a wok. Stir and cook on low flame till it thickens. Switch off the flame and allow to cool completely. Add dry paan masala, gulkand (rose petal jam) and chopped dry fruits in mawa. Mix. These ash gourd slices should be on room temperature for stuffing. Place prepared mawa stuffing on slice and cover with another slice. Cut in two parts with a knife. Prepare all the pieces like this. For garnishing - divide the toothpick in 3 parts and canned cherry in two parts. Insert cherry in toothpick and in prepared stuffed pieces
