1+1/2 Cups Maida (All purpose flour) 1/2 Cup Butter/ oil 3/4 Cup Powdered sugar 1/2 Cup fresh curd 3/4 Cup milk 2 Meetha Paan 2 Betel leaves 1 Tsp Baking soda 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder A Pinch of green food colour (optional) For Decoration 1Cup Non-dairy whipping cream 2 Tbsp sugar +2 Tbsp water Paan Syrup (optional) Neutral gel (optional) Colourful fennel or sprinkles
I bought two mitha paan without betel nut with two extra betel leaves.

Add in a mixer jar and make a coarse paste.

Add powdered sugar, butter in a bowl and beat it well.

Add curd and mix well.

Sieve flour, baking powder and baking soda in butter and sugar mixture.

Add green food colour and betel paste. (preserve 1tbsp for later use)

Mix.

Gradually add milk and mix gently.

Cake batter is ready.

I have prepared a heart shape cake tin with butter and parchment paper. (You can also use 7 inch round tin)

Pour the cake batter in cake tin.

Bake in a preheated oven for 35 minutes on 180 degree Celsius.

Take out from the oven.

Check with a toothpick. And allow to cool completely.

Demould and keep on wire rack for 1 hour.

Whip the cream till stiff peaks.

Place a cake board on turntable.

Place cake on the board and slice the cake with a sharp knife.

For soaking syrup mix 2tbsp powdered sugar and 2tbsp water.

Soak bottom layer with soaking syrup.

Spread whipped cream on cake slice.

Spread leftover betel paste on cream and cover with cream as shown in the video.

Place second layer of cake and remove the dome with the knife.

Soak with soaking syrup.

Cover the cake with whipped cream.

Now place more whipped cream and cover the whole cake with a thick layer of cream and give finishing with an offset spatula as shown in the video.

Place a star nozzle in a piping bag. Fill with whipped cream.

Prepare a border on the cake top with star nozzle.

Make bottom border too.

Mix neutral glaze and betel (paan) syrup in a bowl.

Pour the glaze in the center of the cake and spread evenly.

Sprinkle colourful and flavoured fennel seeds on the border.

Homemade paan cake is ready. Enjoy
