1 cup urad dal 1 tsp cornflour 1 pinch of baking powder Orange red food colour (optional) 300 gram / 1.5 cup sugar 1 tsp Cardamom powder
For sugar syrup, mix 1.5 cup water and sugar in a pan, prepare a thin sugar syrup. Add red orange food colour and cardamom powder. Keep aside. Soak urad dal for 5-6 hours, drain out the water, wash with clean water, sieve and transfer in a mixer jar, add one tbsp water and make a fine and thick paste, if needed can add more water. Transfer this dal paste in a big vessel and beat with hand for 4-5 minutes in one direction. Add food colour, cornflour and baking powder and mix nicely. Now fill the piping bag with urad dal paste, cut a small tip from the corner. Fill one inch flat bottomed pan with oil or ghee. Make imartis in medium hot oil / ghee and fry on high flame. And immediately dip in luke warm sugar syrup for 40 seconds. Take them out and enjoy homemade imartis in the same way.
I am an explorer of food and I feel that people who love to eat are always the best people. I am passionate about cooking and firmly believe in the fact that a recipe has no soul, but you, as a cook, with your affection can bring soul to the recipe. I like to show creativity with dishes which can be made with easily available ingredients in the kitchen.
