250 gram kakode (spiny gourd) 1 medium size potato One finely chopped onion 1cup tomato paste 1 green chili finely chopped 1tsp cumin seeds 2 tbsp oil 1tsp red chili powder 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1tsp salt
Wash kakode and cut them in length wise, peel potato and cut in length wise. Heat a tbsp oil in a wok, crackle cumin seeds. Add chopped kakode and potato, stir well, cover and allow to cook for 6 minutes. Heat a tbsp oil in a another wok. Crackle cumin seeds, add green chilis, onions and cook till onion gets brown. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander and mix, add tomato paste, salt and mix, add 1/2 cup water and cover. Cook on low flame till oil separates. Add cooked kakode and potato in gravy, mix and cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame. Garnish with fresh coriander.
