Buttermilk dosa is very different recipe from the normal dosas, We can prepare it at home with simple ingredients and can enjoy in breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For dosa batter
1 cup rice
¼ cup toor dal
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
2 red dry chilis
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp salt
For chutney –
1/4 cup fresh coconut
1tbsp roasted chana
1 green chilis
1/2 inch ginger piece
1 small onion
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 cup fresh coriander
A small piece of tamarind
1 tsp salt
Mix rice, dal and fenugreek seeds in a bowl, wash with water for 2-3 times. Remove extra water and add 1+1/4 cup buttermilk. Mix and cover. Keep aside for 3-4 hours. After 4 hours add cumin seeds and whole red chilis and transfer soaked rice – dal and buttermilk in a mixer jar. Grind and prepare a fine paste. Transfer in a bowl, cover and keep aside for 2-3 hours.

For chutney add all ingredients in a mixer jar, add ½ cup of water. Grind and prepare a fine paste, transfer in a bowl. Heat 1 tsp oil in a tadka pan, crackle mustard seeds, curry leaves. Switch off the flame and add in prepared coconut chutney, mix and keep aside.

For dosa, heat a non stick tawa on low flame, spread a spoonful dosa batter in the center of the tawa, spread the batter with the back of spoon. Increase the flame of stove and roast dosa till it become brown from the backside. Remove dosa from the tawa and fold. Serve hot and crispy buttermilk dosa with tasty coconut chutney.
