Veg Steamed Momos

Vegetable steamed momos is popular food now a days. Here I am presenting a video of momos which are made with three type of flour and six easy methods of folding. These are steam cooked, thus healthy and easy to make at home. Enjoy the rainy and cold season with spicy and tangy momo chutney specially made of garlic.



Preparation And Cooking Time

Cooking Method :   

- For dough

  1/2 Cup Whole wheat flour

  1/2 Cup Rice flour

  1/2 Cup All purpose flour (maida)

  1/2 Tsp Salt, 1 tsp oil for greasing

For Stuffing -

  1/2 Cup finely chopped onion

  1/2 Cup finely chopped capsicum

  1/2 Cup finely chopped cabbage

  1/2 Cup finely chopped french beans

  1/2 Cup grated carrot

  1 tbsp Soya sauce, 1 tbsp vinegar, 1 tbsp red chilli sauce, 1 tsp black

pepper powder, 1 tsp salt

  1 tbsp Oil

Ingredients for Momos Chutney

  7-8 Garlic pods

  1 Roughly chopped onion

  1 Roughly chopped tomato

  2-3 Red whole chillies

  1 Tbsp vinegar

  1/2 Tsp Salt

Heat oil in a pan. Add onion, carrot, cabbage, french beans, capsicum.

Add black pepper, salt, soya sauce, vinegar, red chilli sauce. Mix well.

Cook on high flame for 2 minutes. Let the water from vegetables evaporate.

Switch off the flame. Allow to cool completely.

For dough add rice flour, wheat flour, maida (all purpose flour) and salt in a vessel.

Knead into a dough using water. Add 1 tsp oil and knead it for a minute.

Cover the dough and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan for momo chutney.

Add garlic pods and cook till they get brown marks.

Add onions and cook till onions gets brown spots.

Add whole red chillies and cook for a minute.

Add tomato and cook till tomato's skin starts to loose.

Allow to cool completely.

Add cooked vegetables in a jar, add salt and vinegar. Make a fine paste.

Make small balls from the dough.

Dust with dry flour and roll them in small disc.

Method -1 Place the stuffing on a rolled disc. Fold it and press as shown in the video.

Method - 2 Place the stuffing on rolled disc. Fold it for 5-6 times from one side of a disc and stick to another side of disc as shown in the video.

Method -3 Place stuffing on the rolled disc. Fold it for 3 times. Now bring it in middle and fold as shown in the video.

Method - 4 Place the stuffing on rolled disc and fold it shown as video.

Method - 5 Place the stuffing on rolled disc and fold in half moon. Stick and fold it as shown in the video.

Method - 6 Place stuffing on the rolled disc and fold it in half. Now fold it from sides as shown in the video.

Grease a sieve with oil. Boil water in a wok and place the greased sieve.

Place prepared momos on sieve and steam them for 8-10 minutes on medium to high flame.

Now the momos are completely done.
